Abstract

1,119,935. Measuring temperature electrically. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. June 28, 1967 [May 2, 1966; Aug. 3, 1966], No. 19245/66 and 34812/66. Heading G1N. The temperature of a hot gas is measured by causing it to distort a ferromagnetic member thereby differentially varying two inductances connected in a bridge circuit. The hot gas flows through a conduit 11 (Fig. 1) made of soft iron having an external flange 15 located between two coils 26, 27. The rest of the transducer is made of material having a low co-efficient of expansion. In another embodiment (Fig. 7) distortion of the gas conduit 41a causes the external flange 45a to displace a soft iron sleeve 55a relative to two coils 64a, 65a.
