Abstract
1,119,446. Hearing aids. DANAVOX INTERNATIONAL A/S. 14 July, 1965 [26 March, 1965], No. 29783/65. Heading H4J. An in-the-ear hearing aid receiver includes a housing having an opening and a protective imperforate membrane covering the opening. The membrane may be a disc adhered over the opening. Preferably, a flexible housing 3 (Fig. 1) of the receiver 1 is sheathed in a replaceable bag 6 of latex rubber or plastics. A sound duct 2 from the receiver diaphragm leads to a sound opening 4 in the housing 3. The lower portion of the bag 6 prevents foreign substance penetrating the receiver 1 and serves as a sound diaphragm. Beaded edge 7 keeps the bag 6 tight. Different portions of the bag 6 may be of different thicknesses. Thus the side wall of the bag 6 may be thicker than the diaphragm portion. The side wall of the bag may have an annular bead to seal the bag 6 against the auditory canal (Fig. 2, not shown). A hearing aid arranged to be introduced as a whole into the auditory canal and including an amplifier has a microphone at the outer end and the protected receiver at the inner end.
