Abstract

111,915. Neuland, A. H. Dec. 19, 1916. Magneto-electric machines; rotary machines; pole-pieces.-A generator for lighting and engine ignition comprises a toothed continuous current armature 2 and field-magnet poles 6, 15 of which the latter is provided with a toothed pole-shoe 12, the teeth of which have a pitch equal to that of the armature teeth. On each side of the poleshoe 12 is a toothed pole-piece 7, 8, so that the flux from the pole 6 alternately passes through the pole-pieces 12 and 7, 8 as the armature rotates. On the pole 15 are wound high and low tension windings 18, 17 connected respectively to the sparking-plugs and to the interrupter. The fieldmagnet winding 16 is connected across the armature and battery; permanent magnets may be employed for the excitation, the winding 16 being then emitted.
