Abstract
1,118,709. Valves. COMMERCIAL SHEARING & STAMPING CO. 30 Sept., 1965 [26 April, 1965], No. 41622/65. Heading F2V. In a two-spool valve, when either of the spools is moved from the neutral position, flow from an inlet 21, 22 to an exhaust passage 24 via bifurcated passage 23 is prevented. When the lower spool 19 is moved to the left, fluid flows from the inlet and via bores 25, 26 in the spool and check valve 27 to a work chamber 13 and thence to one side of a double-acting power device, fluid from the other side of the device flowing to an exhaust passage 18 via chamber 14 and groove 28. When this spool is moved to the right, chamber 14 is pressurized and chamber 13 is exhausted via groove 29 and passage 17. When the upper spool 20 is moved to the left, fluid flows from passage 23 and via bores 32, 35 in the spool to a work chamber 15 connected to one side of another double-acting power device, the other side of this device being exhausted via chamber 16, groove 36 and passage 18. When spool 20 is moved to the right, chamber 16 is pressurized via passage 22, check valve 31, chamber 30 and bores 32, 35, and chamber 15 is exhausted via groove 37 and passage 17. Thus, when spool 19 is actuated, movement of spool 20 to the left has no effect since spool 19 obturates passage 23. Full leftward movement of spool 20 interconnects work chambers 15 and 16 via groove 36.
