Abstract
<PICT:1118364/C1/1> In an apparatus for apportioning molten materials comprising a disc-shaped upper structure 4 mounted for rotational movement above a number of containers 6 carried by the said structure, and arranged along the circumference of a circle coaxial with the periphery of the said support structure which is carried by a shaft 25, a stationary water-cooled element 10 having an inclined surface 12 which forms a cutting edge 5, co-operates with a number of guide members 8, arranged around the periphery of the support structure, said guide members being separated from one another by discharge gaps 7, and each guide member having an upper surface 9 which constitutes a cutting surface with the edge 5 of element 10. A current 1 of molten material flows through outlet 2 on to the said water-cooled element, and then impinges on to one of the surfaces of a guide member from where it passes through the discharge gap to a container therebelow. When the container has received the required amount of molten material the structure rotates and the guide member and stationary cutting edge co-operate to divert the flow of material to the other guide surface of the guide member to thereby fill an adjacent container.
