Abstract

Glass fibres are coated with radially extending fibrous material, e.g. polyamide and polyester fibres, short relative to the glass fibres. The fibrous material may be induced to coat the glass fibres to which an adhesive may have been applied by electrostatic means. The adhesive may be based on a synthetic or natural rubber latex and may contain ethylacetate, a thickener or a foam remover. The glass fibres may be used in the production of tyres, traction cables, conveyor belts, V-belts, protective clothing, packing material or filter cloths.
