Abstract

Sluice valves; sliding valves; indicating amount of opening.-The sluice plate or sliding gate B has a rounded or V-shaped notch C, D in its closing edge extending the entire width of the plate. The sides of the V-shaped notch may be straight, or curved, as shown. To prevent liquid from being trapped in the chamber I<1> below the valve, a small conduit 0 connects this chamber with the main fluid conduit M. A removable cover P closes the chamber I<1> in which dirt may collect.. A pointer G and scale bar H are provided to indicate the amount, of opening of the valve, the pointer G being carried by a nut operating on the screwed part N of the valve spindle. The distance between the working faces of the valve plate may be made adjustable by forming the faces on two separate parts bolted together with inclined faces between them; the adjustment is effected to take up for wear by sliding one plate relatively to the other and bolting them together again.
