Abstract

1,115, 598. Controlling compressors. LENNOX INDUSTRIES Inc. Aug. 12, 1966 [Oct.24, 1965], No. 36294 / 66. Heading F1N. In a hermetically sealed reciprocating compressor having an annular discharge gas manifold 24 surrounding the compression mechanism and defined by two laterally extending flanges closed by a sleeve, a pressure switch 22 is disposed in the discharge manifold and is arranged to close in response to a predetermined high discharge pressure to thereby stop the electric motor driving the compressor. The pressure switch 22 is connected in series with a low-pressure switch, a motor current overload switch and a thermostat mounted on the stator of the motor. If any one of the switches are open a relay coil controlling contacts in the motor circuit is de-energized. The pressure switch, Fig. 3 (not shown) is of the diaphragm operated plunger type.
