Abstract

Foamed synthetic resins are produced from solutions of curable synthetic resins by mixing a foam of a solution of a foaming agent which has been foamed up with a compressed gas with a solution of a synthetic resin and curing the resultant synthetic resin foam, wherein the foam is produced in a tubular vessel into the inlet end of which a solution of a foaming agent is introduced axially and a compressed gas is introduced tangentially and the introduction of a solution of the synthetic resin into the foam produced is carried out near to the end of a tube which is attached to the tapering outlet end of the tubular vessel. Specified resins are ureaformaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde condensates, and suitable foaming agents are alcohol sulphonates. A hardener may be added to the foaming agent solution, e.g. an organic or an inorganic acid.
