Abstract

1,114,691. Plastics containers; stoppers. SIR JOHN ELLIOT COCKBURN. 29 Nov., 1965 [28 Aug., 1964; 1 March, 1965], Nos. 35302/64 and 50620/65. Headings B8D and B8T. A collapsible container 1 of resilient plastics material, e.g. synthetic rubber, polyethylene or a substituted ethylene polymer, is formed with bellows folds 2 as shown, and may be emptied via a valve 6 at its upper end which permits the liquid contents of the container to be dispensed when pressure is applied but which prevents air from entering when pressure is released. The valve may be contained in a screw cap 5; or it may be a hollow member (7) held on a nozzle at the upper end of the container by a rib and groove connection, Fig. 2 (not shown), the walls of the hollow member (7) touching at their top. Initially the walls have an additional upper part sealing the container and cut off by the user. The valve may be in the form of a slit disc, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown); or it may be a disc held seated by a spring or a resilient foam pad, Figs. 5-6 (not shown), below a spouted cap. The container may be used for wine, and may be supported in a metal tube.
