Abstract

1,114,534. Pulse shaping circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 24 June, 1966 [29 June, 1965], No. 28295/66. Heading H3T. A circuit for converting distorted input pulses produced by mechanical contacts 1 into undistorted output pulses comprises a bi-stable circuit 15, 20 with a timing capacitor 10 connected in the regenerative feedback loop. The arrangement is such that when contact 1 is open, transistor 15 is saturated and capacitor 10 is charged through resistor 6 towards the negative potential of battery 7. When contact 1 is closed, point 5 is earthed, thus reverse biasing diode 8. Capacitor 10 then charges through resistor 14 and transistor 15 until it reaches sufficient potential to change the state of bi-stable circuit 15, 20. When the contacts are again opened, capacitor 10 discharges through diode 8 and resistor 6 until its potential is such as to again change the state of circuit 15, 20. Undistorted pulses are thus provided at the collector of transistor 20, the short peaks occurring at the leading and trailing edges of the input pulse and resulting from contact bounce being too short to alter the charge on capacitor 10 and hence cause spurious triggering of the bistable circuit.
