Abstract
A method of manufacturing a dielectric material, comprising preparing a mixture of boron trioxide, aluminium oxide, silicon dioxide, lead monoxide, titanium dioxide and/or equivalent compounds of these oxides, heating the mixtures to form a vitreous material having a positive temperature coefficient of dielectric constant, and heating this vitreous material between 500 DEG C. and 1200 DEG C. until sufficient titanium dioxide has been precipitated in the material in the form of rutile so that the temperature coefficient of dielectric constant, within a desired temperature range is not positive wherein the mixture contains 2-15% by weight of titanium dioxide and less than 50% by weight of silicon dioxide. The other materials of the mixture are preferably present in the following amounts expressed in percentage by weight BaO3 10-55%; Al2O3 5-25%; PbO 10-50%. A number of specific examples are given.
