Abstract

1,114,227. Bag filling apparatus; shoots. C. M. LAVERICK. 2 Nov., 1966, No. 49107/66. Headings B8C and B8S. Means for clamping sacks or bags to filler outlets comprises two U-shaped brackets such as 14 adapted to be connected to the filler outlet, each bracket having an elongated jaw such as 16 on its cross-piece and being connected to a toggle linkage such as 19-21 which in its overcentre position presses the jaws against the filler outlet to clamp the sack mouth firmly. As described, the filler outlet 11 is provided with surfaces 17 of metal spiked as in a nutmeggrater while surfaces 16 are of rubber, the resiliency of which allows the toggle to go overcentre. In Fig. 1, 12 is a conveyer, 13 a separator plate and 13a gates for feeding material to a selected one of the hopper outlets. The strips 17 are preferably spaced from the edge of the outlet 11, and the pads 16 project downwardly past the edges of strips 17. The outlets 11 may be of circular cross-section. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 813,736.
