Abstract

1,113,786. Window regulators. WILMOTBREEDEN Ltd. 24 Sept., 1965 [10 Oct., 1964], No. 41461/64. Heading E2M. A window is raised and lowered when a hand crank is turned to operate a pinion 13 which in turn meshes with and moves a rack 19 integral with and projecting from one side of a flexible metal strip 1, the central flat portion thereof sliding in a slot 16 between spaced apart flanges 15 of a metal guide 7, a circular guide sector 14 thereof affording an easy slide fit for a series of alternate spaced lateral semicircular projections forming a guide edge section 18 of the strip 1. The rack 19 is brazed at two spaced points adjacent the side edges of the window, to brackets on the lower metal window channel, Fig. 1 (not shown) so that these points move in the same direction, while the guide 7 is of an inverted N-configuration, and is attached to the internal panel of a door holding the window. The strip 1 guides the movement of the window while the guide 7 is curved if the movement of the bottom of the window is non-linear. The strip may be made from synthetic plastics material, and there may be power drive to the pinion.
