Abstract

In a sewing machine a resilient bushing is provided intermediate a pivoted drive member and the support on which it pivots or in which it oscillates to reduce noise. The needle bar is reciprocated by a pivoted lever connected to the crank shaft. A resilient bushing fixed to the lever engages the pivot shaft. The looper and feed bar are driven from the crank shaft by linkage including pivoted members fixed to shafts mounted in supports having resilient bushings. The bushing comprises outer and inner metal sleeves and an intermediate rubber sleeve. The inner metal sleeve has a helical groove on its inner surface and cross-cuts at the ends to permit flow of lubricant. The top of the presser bar is received by a coil spring the tension of which can be regulated by a screwed rod bearing against it.
