Abstract

Pipes are continuously centrifugally cast from a monomer mixture which may include a reinforcing agent and a coupling agent therefor and which is introduced into one end of a rotated lubricated cylindrical tube mould and continuously withdrawn from the other end as a polymerized pipe (see Divisions B4-B5). The monomer mixture may comprise molten e - caprolactam, mullite, 3 - aminopropyltriethoxy - silane, decyltriethylsilicate and water, which is heated at 150 degrees under slight vacuum after which toluene diisocyanate is added at 115 DEG C. and then ethylmagnesium bromide in diethyl ether whereupon, after applying vacuum to remove ether and ethane, the mixture is fed into the mould. Alternatively, the monomer mixture may comprise molten e -caprolactam, a polyfunctional isocyanate and sodium hydride, or molten e -caprolactam, wollastonite (or feldspar), methyl 11-trimethoxysilylundeconate and polyfunctional isocyanate, After heating under vacuum and cooling, 2 parts of sodium hydride is added whereupon the mixture is cast at 150 DEG C. after vacuum treatment. Another monomer mixture used comprises wollastonite treated with 3-methacrylatopropyltrimethoxysilane, methyl methacrylate, cumene hydroperoxide, trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate and mixtre of triethylborane, pyridine and an ethylene oxide-alkylphenol condensate. In a further process, a mixture of methyl methacrylate, cumene hydroperoxide, trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate and a combination of triethylborane, pyridine and ethylene oxide-alkyl phenol condensate is polymerized in the mould in an aqueous solution of sodium nitrate.
