Abstract
1,112,391. Multiplying apparatus. COMPAGNIE DES COMPTEURS. 25 June, 1965 [30 June, 1964], No. 27152/65. Headings G4A and G4D. The multiplicand is set up on selector switches 1 and the multiplier is supplied as a stream of equal-valued pulses to an electronic selector 9. With selector 9 set to the lowest denomination a, a pulse generator 14 then supplies pulses to the a denominations of a binary-coded decimal preselection counter 5 and to an electronic totalizing counter 7. The counter 5 is connected through a code translator 6 and visual decimal indicator to the selector switches 1 and when the a denominations of 1 and 5 coincide AND gate 13a pulses a monostable pulse generator 11 which stops pulse generator 14 and shifts electronic selector 9 to the b denomination. The process repeats for each denomination after which selector 9 reaches zero. The whole cycle repeats for each multiplier pulse. The device is applicable to quantity x price calculations such as in fuel dispensers and electric supply meters.
