Abstract

1500509 Counting apparatus E P JORDAN 3 March 1976 [5 Dec 1974] 52607/74 Heading G4D A sensor such as a photocell is placed to sense rotations of a gas or electricity supply meter and produce pulses according to the energy consumed which pulses are then multiplied according to the tarriff(s) prevailing and counted to give a direct indication of the cost of the energy consumed. The multiplier includes a square wave generator and a counter, the counter being preset by manual switches according to the tarriff and each pulse from the sensor switches on the generator and the counter switches off the generator when it has delivered a number of pulses proportional to the tariff. The pulses from the generator are applied to frequency divider stages and then to a seven segment display to indicate the cost.
