Abstract

1,111,487. Silo top unloader. RUSTON'S ENGINEERING CO. Ltd., and E. H. RUSTON. 13 Feb., 1967 [26 April, 1966; 27 July, 1966], Nos. 18104/66 and 33762/66. Heading B8E. A silo top unloader has a cutting and feeding mechanism in the form of augers driven by an electric motor and supported by a cable passing to a winch driven by a further motor. The winch motor is controlled in dependence on the current flowing in the drive motor such that if the current is below a predetermined value the mechanism is lowered and if it rises above a safe value it is raised. In one arrangement described two relays are connected in series with the drive motor and when both are operated the winch motor operates to raise the mechanism, if one is operated the winch motor stops and a lock is operated, and if both are released the winch motor lowers the mechanism. In the other embodiment electronic timers are provided to delay any lowering operation for a predetermined time. Other limit devices may be used including devices to limit the total raising and lowering.
