1,111,373. Measuring viscosity. INVENTA A. G. FœR FORSCHUNG UND PATENTVERWERTUNG. Sept. 9, 1966 [Sept. 9, 1965], No.40443/66. Heading G1S. In apparatus for measuring the viscosity of liquids or melts, a piston 1 is driven at constant speed in a cylinder 2 immersed in the test fluid, a fixed clearance being maintained between the piston and the cylinder wall, and the viscosity is determined as a function of the pressure measured by the pressure detector 4. In a modification, e. g. where a stirrer mechanism is employed in a reaction vessel and use of a straight cylinder is not practical, a curved cylinder is used in which a curved piston is reciprocated, the piston being mounted on a crank arm which is pivoted at the centre of the circle of which the cylinder forms an arc.
