Abstract

The change in viscosity of a fluid in a container moving under the action of e.g. an agitator is detected by measuring the deformation of fixed element due to the force exerted on the fixed element by the fluid. The method is used for e.g. detecting the polymerisation of styrene in the presence of rubber to determine the point at which processing operations should change. The method is more suitable for industrial use than using e.g. conventional viscometers.
