Abstract

Novel phosphoroamidothioates of the formula (RS)(R1O)P(O)NHR11, wherein R is a monovalent unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbyl group having at least 3 carbon atoms, R1 is a C1-C6 alkyl group and R11 is hydrogen or a C1-C6 alkyl group are obtained by reacting an appropriate O,O-dialkyl chlorophosphorothionate with ammonia or an appropriate primary C1-C6 alkylamine and then heating the product, e.g. at 20 DEG to 80 DEG C. in the presence of an unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbon halide having 3 to 6 carbon atoms and wherein the halogen is of atomic number 17 to 53. It is preferred to use an excess of the hydrocarbon halide reactant and the amination step is preferably carried out in an inert diluent e.g. an aromatic or paraffinic solvent, the diluent being normally removed prior to the addition of the hydrocarbon halide. The group R may contain one or more ethylenic and/or acetylenic sites of unsaturation. The products have insecticidal properties (see Division A5).ALSO:An insecticidal composition comprises a solid or liquid carrier and a phosphoroamidothioate of the general formula (RS) (R\svO)P(O) NHR\yF wherein R is a monovalent unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbyl group having at least 3 carbon atoms, R\sv is a C1-C6 alkyl group and R\sv is hydrogen or a C1-C6 alkyl group. The group R may contain one or more ethylenic and/or acetylenic bonds. Wetting and dispersing agents may be present and the solid carrier may be in the form of powder, granules, or dust, while specified liquid carriers are alkanes, aromatic hydrocarbons and acetone. The active ingredient has systemic properties and may be mixed with other active toxicants.
