Abstract
A polyether which contains at least two hydroxyl groups and at least one secondary amino group in the molecule and which is a hydrolysis product of an oxyalkylated oxazolidine, is reacted with an organic polyisocyanate to form a polyurethane. The oxyalkylated oxazolidine may be prepared by reacting an oxazolidine with an alkylene oxide and may have a M.W. of 1500-5000, or an N-hydroxyalkyl oxazolidine may be prepared by condensing a carbonyl compound with diethanolamine. Catalysts may be included in the reaction mixture and foams may be prepared by incorporating a blowing agent. In a typical Example (1) a polyether prepared by reacting propylene oxide with 2-methyl-2-ethyl oxazolidine, was mixed with stannous octoate, triethlene diamine, water and a siloxane-oxyalkylene copolymer. Tolylene diisocyanate was then added, the mixture poured into a mould and allowed to foam and set.
