Abstract
1,110,748. Insulators. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME CARLSWERK A.G. 3 April, 1967 [2 April, 1966], No. 15171/67. Heading H2C. A skirted insulator is formed by applying axial pressure to a tubular body 1 of insulating material formed with one or more double conical enlargements, Fig. 1 (not shown), so that one conical part 5 of an enlargement is forced up into the other conical part 4 as shown, to form a skirt. The double conical enlargements of the tubular body can be produced by centrifugal casting or blow moulding, and the tube itself can be made of thermoplastic or elastomeric plastics material, the walls being reinforced if necessary by an embedded mesh or cast-in lining of mechanically stronger insulating material. The insulator is normally reinforced by an internal core, any remaining internal space 9 being filled with oil or other insulating compound.
