Abstract

1,110,343. Swimming doll. M. E. HOCKMAN; R. J. HOCKMAN and R. M. WALKER. 3 June, 1966, No. 24874/66. Heading A6S. A swimming doll comprises buoyant arms and body watertightly connected by resilient annular flanges 36, 38, so that the arms can rotate freely relative to the body, driven from within the body 'by battery 31, electric motor 17 and a transverse shaft to the ends of which the arms are connected releasably, so that they may be set at various relative ,positions. In one embodiment, the transverse shaft is in three pieces: two outer shafts 28, 29 and a central portion carrying pinion 24, which is rotated by the motor and has shafts 44, 46 on either side, each with a rectangular recess 47 into which fits the inner end 43 of the of the outer shafts, each connected non-releasably alt its outer end to an arm and passing through opening 41 or 42 in the body wall. To change their relative position, an arm is pulled away from the body (resiliently deforming the connecting flanges) to disconnect shaft 28 and socket 44, the arm rotated, and the shaft re-engaged with the socket.
