Abstract

1,110,298. Underground cable installation. J. A. CUTHBERTSON Ltd. 24 Oct., 1966 [12 Nov., 1965], No. 48035/65. Heading H2C. [Also in Division F2] Underground cables 1 are protected by a continuous strip 3 of flexible, impact-resistant, plastics material disposed substantially parallel with and directly above the cables. The strip may have tapered edge portions 5. Subsequent to laying the cables in a trench the strip 3, which is stored on a drum, is progressively unwound from the drum on top of the cables, the trench being finally filled in. Alternatively, the cables and strip are coiled on drums mounted on a vehicle provided with a plough which cuts a trench, the cables and strip being fed through guides and into the trench.
