Abstract

1,110,179. Edge filter. AUTO-KLEAN STRAINERS Ltd. 16 June, 1965 [18 June, 1964], No. 25288/64. Heading BID. [Also in Division B3] An edge filter comprises a stack of parallel co-axial frame-like similar shaped filter elements 1 of the same size, the rim of at least one element of each adjoining pair being relieved axially at 14 to provide an axially extending gap 12 between the outer edges of the rims of the pair, and the rim of at least one element of each adjoining pair being further relieved axially at 13 at a position inwardly of the gap 12 to provide an inward widening of the gap in an axial direction and including a wiper extending axially alongside the stack of elements to be in contact with the outer edges of the rim of each element. The elements may be spaced with spacers. The wiper may be a straight edged blade, or a nylon brush or pad of such coarse texture that the bristle of the brush or material of the pad do not extend into the gaps 12. The elements may be made by coining the rim of a blank stamped from sheet material, or by sintering powdered metal or alloy.
