Abstract

1,109,936. Silicon steel strip; altering physical structure. RICHARD THOMAS & BALD WINS Ltd. 10 Jan., 1967 [13 Jan. 1966], No. 1716/66. Headings B3A and B3V. In a methode of reducing the core loss of grain oriented silicon steel used as transformer laminations, the steel strip is thermally flattened by tensioning it from 250-1250 p.s.i. at 780- 840‹ C. for 30-120 seconds. The optimum results are obtained at a tension of 750 p.s.i. at 800‹ C. for 1 minute followed by stress relief annealing.
