Abstract
1,109,606. Mining conveyers. MAVOR & COULSON Ltd. 28 July, 1965 [1 Aug., 1964], No. 30406/64. Heading B8A. Each section (25), Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), of a longwall scraper conveyer 1 has a deck plate 26 which extends beneath the front flights 13 of the conveyer. A runner 27 raises the front of the plate 26 about ¥inch above floor level and, with a bar 29, forms a low-angle ramp. The runner also provides a fulcrum about which steering is more easily effected by jacks or rams (not shown). A plate 32 which extends beneath the rear run flights 13 is reinforced by ribs 33. Chains 14, 15 which carry the flights 13 engage around sprocket-wheels 22, 24 and extend into an upwardly inclined branch 16 which discharges to a main conveyer (not shown) at 17. A mining machine 2 having cutters 3 is mounted on slideways 10, 11 on the conveyer frame. The modification in Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) comprises a single roller chain (35) for the flights (13A). Reduction in the overall height of the conveyer and machine is made possible by using a curved rail (40) in place of the sprocket-wheel. A slideway (11A) is thus lower than the slideway 11 in Fig. 1. A further embodiment, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown) includes a section (25B) at an auxiliary conveyer (41). Only the rear portion of the section is raised for discharge on to the conveyer (41).
