Abstract
1,108,749. Transistor pulse circuits. CONTROL DATA CORPORATION. 6 July, 1965 [8 July, 1964], No. 28543/65. Heading H3T. A switching circuit feeding an incorrectly terminated twisted pair transmission line is shunted at its input by an impedance which at a voltage level equal to that of the combined sent and reflected signals, has a reduced value equal to the impedance of the line. When transistor 12 is switched off by an input pulse diode 38 becomes conductive to limit the voltage step applied to a twisted pair line 46. The pulse reflected by the relatively high impedance at the far end of the line sees at the driving end an impedance equal to resistor 36 which is chosen to correctly terminate the line. The diode may be the emitter base path of a further transistor amplifier stage (90, Fig. 3, not shown) and the output transistor 60 may feed an AND gate, in which case the lengths of respective lines must be chosen to ensure synchronism.
