Abstract
1,108,594. Moving-band air filter. OZONAIR ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. 27 April, 1965 [24 March, 1964], No. 12450/64. Heading B1T. In a moving-band air filter in which a web of filter material is drawn from a supply to a take-up device across an air duct where it is entrained over staggered rollers (Fig. 1, not shown), the edges of the web have beads 33 which engage in guide tracks attached to duct walls 20 to seal the web edges to the duct walls. Track 41 is of extruded aluminium and rounded lips 42, 43 engage the bead 33, which is covered by tape stitched to web 22. In other embodiments, (Figs. 2, 3, 7, not shown), the web itself is engaged and compressed by the guide lips. Where the track changes direction abruptly, the web is supported by rotatable rollers and the radially inward guide lip may be cut away (Figs. 5, 6 not shown), or the roller may be cut away to accommodate both lips of the guide track (Figs. 8, 9, not shown). The tracks may be slotted (52, 55) to facilitate their bending round the rollers. The web 22 is reinforced by a layer of cotton netting.
