Abstract

1,108,583. Ionization chambers. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 11 June, 1965 [11 June, 1964], No. 24872/65. Heading H1D. An ionization chamber for responding to ionizing radiation in a manner equivalent to that of human tissues has its walls constituted of a mixture of polyethylene, in amount by weight between 68% and 74%, and magnesium fluoride. The collecting electrode is formed of the same material coated with a conductive mixture of colloidal graphite, tannin, and magnesium fluoride, and the filling is a mixture of methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and neon. The above wall and filling compositions are stated to be equivalent, respectively, to the superficial tissues, and to the more sensitive underlying portions of the body, with respect to radiation absorption.
