Abstract
The water vapour concentration in CO2 nuclear reactor coolant is reduced by extracting H2 from the coolant by means of a selective diffusion process. H2 and water vapour may be formed in the coolant by breakdown of added inhibitors; removal of H2 favours reaction in the direction CO + H2O- > CO2 + H2 and so reduces the amount of water vapour. Diffusion may be carried out with a silver-palladium membrane arranged in the coolant circuit.
