Abstract

1,107,948. Valve pulse circuits. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 12 Sept., 1966 [23 Sept., 1965], No. 40723/66. Heading H3P. In a circuit of the type in which a pulse from a store is applied to an output valve, e.g. a klystron, by triggering a switching valve, the output valve is protected against circuit faults by shunting the store with a discharge device, and applying to the trigger electrode of this device two antiphase pulses which normally cancel out to prevent the device from being triggered. One pulse is derived from the pulse which triggers the switching valve, and the other is derived from the output of the store, so that failure of either one will cause the device to trigger and discharge the store. As described, the store comprises a number of parallel connected capacitors 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP>, 4<SP>111</SP> which may be discharged by triggering parallel connected valves 80, 82 to feed a pulse to line 2 via transformer 6. The triggering circuit 18 for the valves 80, 82 include a pulse shaping network 90, 92, 94 and in order to maintain the pulse amplitude constant feedback is applied via amplifier 96 from transformer 6. Capacitors 4 are shunted by a spark-gap 52, 54 whose trigger electrode is fed with the input trigger pulse via amplifier 32 and transformer 30 and also with the output of transformer 6 obtained from secondary winding 86. The output line is provided with a limiting circuit 48, 50. The sparkgap 52, 54 may be replaced by an ignition or thyratron.
