Abstract
Acyclic olefins are disproportionated under suitable conditions in the presence of a catalyst prepared by treating alumina with acid and impregnating the treated alumina with either (a) an oxide of molybdenum, tungsten or rhenium, or (b) a compound which is decomposable to an oxide as in (a), or (c) a carbonyl of molybdenum or tungsten. The catalyst may also contain alkali metal or alkaline earth metal ions. Numerous olefins are mentioned, the examples relating to the disproportionation of propylene.
