Abstract

1,105,420. Selective printers. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. 2 May, 1966 [28 May, 1965], No. 19166/66. Heading B6F. A selective printer, in which continuous stationery 58 removed from a bin 29 is passed between a type cartridge assembly 12 and printer hammer assembly 10 and drawn by endless tractor feed mechanism 60 and discharge rollers 85, 86 over an arcuate guide plate 62, is housed in a totally enclosed housing to provide an acoustic trap for the noise generated on operating the hammer assembly. In particular an acoustic channel is formed by lining the underside of the guide plate 62 and the adjacent inner surface 'of the housing cover 32 with fibre glass pads 64, 77 respectively. Further padding is provided at 32d in the front panel of the housing and the hinged portions 32d of the housing and cover 32 are provided with magnetic rubber seals 36. Interior of the housing is ventilated by fans 40, 42 (Fig. 1) the air being discharged through ducts 50, 52, 54 to cool the hammer mechanism and motor drive.
