Abstract

1,105,070. Ladders. C. H. MATTHEWS. 16 Nov., 1966 [17 Nov., 1965], No. 48771/65. Heading A6L. The spigot of a spigot and socket joint particularly for ladders comprises two overlapping channels 5, 6 engaged face to face and riveted in the end of a rectangular tubular stile with a part projecting for engagement in the end of another stile. The channels may be moved relatively to each other along their bases to fit various sizes of stiles. The spigot and socket are locked together by a pin 11 having a pivoted gravity lock 16 at one end held against the stile by a spring 13.
