Abstract

1,105,054. Cutting by fusion. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. 7 March, 1966 [25 March, 1965], No. 12734/65. Heading B3V. A multi-nozzle flame bevelling machine has a nozzle setting device comprising a removable jig assembly 22, 24 having a datum surface 52 corresponding to the surface of the plate 20 to be bevelled and means such as 39 for locating each nozzle 36, 38, 40 relatively to the datum surface. In one embodiment the device consists of three plates 22, 24, (26), Fig. 2 (not shown), secured together by bolts (28), (30). Each plate has a bore (35), (37), 39 for receiving the appropriate nozzle. The nozzles are then secured to the cutting head with the plate riding roller 54 resting on surface 52. Thereafter the bolts (28), (30) are withdrawn to permit removal of the setting device. Dummy nozzles may be used in the device to set-up nozzle holders on the cutting head. In another embodiment, Figs. 4-11 (not shown), the nozzle holders have projections such as (80), (82), which engage in apertures such as (96), (98) of jig plates (88), (90) which have datum surfaces (112), (114). Alternatively the projections may be provided on the jig plates and the apertures on the nozzle holders. The machine may be used for making a single bevel cut.
