Abstract

1,104,538. Plastics bags; stoppers. ELLIOT LABORATORIES Inc. 22 June, 1966, No. 27839/66. Headings B8K and B8T. [Also in Division A5] A plastics bag comprises a pair of expanded thermoplastic panels 4, 6, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, which are peripherally sealed to one another and normally collapsed against each other, one panel having an opening 26 nearer one edge than the others and a spout 34 in the form of a neck around the opening. A closure 48 for the neck comprises a cap having an end wall 50 and a tubular tapering side wall 56 which fits inside the neck. The neck and cap are made of moulded polyvinyl chloride. Bayonet slots 64 in the cap co-operate with lugs 67 integral with the neck to fix the cap relative to the neck. The inner surface of the neck tapers from the outer edge as far as the lugs to conform to the taper of the cap. When used as an enema bag, a tube 53 extends from an opening in the cap for the connection of tubing. The bag has hanger openings 24 in the peripheral seal at the top and bottom edges and embossed lines indicative of the amount of liquid in the bag in the seal at the side edges.
