Abstract

1,103,786. Air-cushion vehicles. SOCIETE BERTIN & CIE. 4 May, 1966 [7 May, 1965], No. 19690/66. Heading B7K. An air-cushion vehicle comprises a platform 1 housing a lift fan 3 and provided with a pump 10 and control valve 11 to supply inflation air to a stack of interconnected flexible annular tubes 4a-4e, the lowermost of which, 4e, carries a frusto-conical skirt extension 4l. The tubes are connected at two seams 8a, 8b and formed with connecting apertures 9, and the radius of the. lower edge of the skirt is outboard of the inner seam 8b. By applying pressure or suction to the interiors of the tubes, the skirt may be extended or retracted.
