Abstract
An electrically conductive coating composition comprises colloidal graphite blended with a water dispersed latex of an organic polymer, e.g. a butadiene acrylonitrile or vinyl acetate-alkyl (meth)acrylate copolymer or a homo- or copolymer of vinylidene chloride, said latex being capable of forming a coherent coating when dried at ambient temperatures. Other ingredients of the composition may be an alkali, e.g. NH4OH solution and a wetting agent, e.g. "Teepol" (Registered Trade Mark). Articles, such as sheets or tubes, made from polyvinyl chloride or an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer may be coated with the composition prior to electroplating, varnishing or painting (see Division B2).ALSO:An electrically conductive coating composition comprising aqueous, colloidal graphite blended with a water dispersed latex of an organic polymer, which latex is capable of forming a coherent coating when dried at ambient temperatures, is applied, e.g. by brushing, dipping, spraying or from a roller, to an article of wood, fabric, metal or organic polymer. In examples, rigid polyvinyl chloride sheets are coated with a composition containing a latex of a butadiene-acrylonitrile or vinyl acetate-butyl acrylate copolymer and the external surfaces of rigid P.V.C. extruded tubes are coated with a composition containing the former latex and, subsequently, with aluminium paint, clear varnish, emulsion paint, white lead paint or matt blackboard paint.
