1,103,543. Vulcanization of rubber articles in fluidized bed. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. 19 Nov., 1964 [21 Dec., 1963], No. 50573/63. Addition to 864,117. Heading B5A. A vulcanizable (or cross-linkable) precursor of a rubber article contained in a mould is heatvulcanized by immersion in a bed of a fluidized solid, e.g. sand, glass ballotini, common salt or sodium pyrophosphate particles. Latex foam rubber mouldings may be immersed for two minutes at 190‹ C., held in the hot air above the bed for three minutes and then cooled. A succession of moulds may pass through the fluidized bed on a conveyer.
