Abstract
1,103,304. Transistor sawtooth circuits. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS, G.m.b.H. 5 Feb., 1965 [5 Feb., 1964], No. 5038/65. Heading H3T. In a field deflection circuit for a television receiver the effect of the curvature of the # v. Ib characteristic is corrected by connecting a capacitor 6 between the base and emitter of an emitter follower 4 and a further R.C. circuit 7, 8 between the base and a point of constant potential. As described, a blocking oscillator 3 is synchronized by field pulses at 22 and provides a pre-distorted sawtooth wave 29 which is passed by an emitter follower 4 and output transistor 12 to field deflection coils 13, 14. Capacitor 6 compensates for the base characteristic of transistor 4, further correction being provided by feedback via 26, 7. Resistors 17, 25, 8 respectively adjust frequency, amplitude and linearity. A negative temperature coefficient resistor 27, mounted adjacent transistor 12, stabilizes the working point of transistor 4. The charging voltage for capacitors 10 and 11 may be provided with a time varying component so as to improve linearity. Alternatively, the deflection coils 13, 14 may replace resistor 5.
