Abstract
1,103,143. Valves. ESSA MACHINENFABRIK A.G. 12 April, 1965 [10 April, 1964], No. 15401/65. Heading F2V. A valve comprises an axially movable member 2 having a piston 2a formed at a mid-position and conical closure surfaces 2f, and 2g formed at each end. The movement of the members 2 is controlled by pressure-fluid in a chamber 1b, admitted through a port 3, and a spring 4 acting on the opposite side of the piston 2a. Surfaces 2f and 2a co-operate with conical seats 5a and 7a to control flow through ports 5, 6, and 7, 8, respectively. The spring 4 may be replaced by a further pressure-fluid chamber. The member 2 may be formed with an axial flow passage which may extend throughout the length of the member, or from each end to connect with radial passages at the innermost end which co-operate with ports in the housing. Two members 2 may be disposed in axial alignment in one housing. Two members 2 may be disposed side-by-side in a housing with their pressurefluid chambers connected so as to displace the members in opposite directions. A choke or non-return valve may be disposed in a bore in the member 2.
