Abstract

1,102,470. Springs. VIROLA S.A. 18 April, 1966 [21 April, 1965; 13 July, 1965], No. 16962/66. Heading F2S. [Also in Division G3] An assembly for securing a balance spring 1 to a staff 4 comprises a pair of securing rings 2, 3 at least one of which is rigidly secured to the staff, the inner extremity of the spring being gripped between opposing faces of the rings. The rings 2, 3 are made of a plastics material such as polyethylene or other thermoplastic or thermosetting resins with or without a hardener and are force fitted or glued to the balance staff. The spring may also be glued to the opposing faces of the rings 2, 3 which may have a shape other than circular. Spiral grooves, slotted bosses or studs may be formed on one of the rings to locate the first one or two coils of the spring.
