Abstract

1,102,249. Producing combined rotary and reciprocatory motion; cams. ADAMOVSKE STROJIRNY NARODNI PODNIK. 17 May, 1966 [19 July, 1965], No. 21788/66. Headings F2K and F2Q. [Also in Division B6] In a device for producing simultaneous rotation and axial reciprocation of a rubbing down roller 1 for a printing machine inking system, the reciprocation is produced by an adjustably tiltable stationary circular cam 13 having a peripheral groove 12 of part-circular cross section in which runs a roller follower 11 mounted on a post 8 of a toothed gear 7 which is rotatably mounted by bearings 6 on the end of the roller 1 and is driven by an input gear 25, the roller follower 11 having axial freedom on its axle 9. The roller 1 is supported for axial movement in a rotatable sleeve 4 by balls 2 and is drivingly connected to the sleeve 4 for rotation therewith by a transverse pin 29 carrying a roller 28 which engages an axial slot 27 in the sleeve 4. A gear 26 secured to the same shaft as the input gear 25 meshes external teeth on the sleeve 4 to rotate the latter, and the roller 1. The cam 13 is pivotally supported on a U-shaped post 15, the tilt adjustment being by a screw 22 acting through links 21, 19.
