[Also in Divisions C3 and D2] Water-soluble salts of polymers or copolymers of ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids which have been partially or completely aminoalkylated to form amino-ester derivatives (see Division C3) are suitable for flocculating suspensions of minerals, e.g. in the treatment of industrial waste and process streams, mixing and metallurgical processes, and clarification and purification of water. In an example, the hydrochloride salt of poly- (2.aminoethyl acrylate) is used for flocculating an aqueous suspension of kaolin clay.
