Abstract

1,101,693. Moulding cellular polyurethane- KAY MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. 11 Nov., 1965, No. 47999/65. Heading B5A. In a method of moulding a cellular polyurethane article the foam as it gels adheres to an insert member located in the mould to allow removal of the article supported by the insert for subsequent curing. The insert member which may be a net, sheet or strip is located on a frame 27 at the parting line of a split mould the halves of which are carried by pivoted arms 23, 23a. Each mould half 12, 13 which may be of polyurethane has a lining sheet of plastics material e.g. polyethylene held against the cavity walls during moulding by application of vacuum. To separate the linings from the mould walls fluid under slight pressure is applied to the outside of the mould linings. The lined article is removed on the frame and transported to the curing oven. The lining sheets are trimmed if necessary.
