Abstract

Particulate material, e.g. sand, is bonded by mixing with aqueous alkali metal silicate, silicon or ferrosilicon, dicalcium silicate, and lime. the mixture is shaped and allowed to harden. The silicon or ferrosilicon, dicalcium silicate, and lime may be premixed, e.g. 10-45% of each being used. The composition may be used for sand moulds and cores.
