Abstract

110,111. Phillips, J. April 28, 1917. Vehicular lanterns; convertible oil, candle, and like lamps; reservoirs, attaching to lanterns.- The bottom a of the lantern is provided with a shallow projecting screwed bearing b to receive the screwed candle socket g, and is formed at its edges with downturned flanges of a depth at least equal to that of the projecting bearing so that the lantern will stand level when the candle socket is removed. As shown, the edges c are coiled around a stiffening wire carried by the lamp body e, and the remaining edges f are bent back upwards and inwards to form guides for an oil or like container which may replace the candle tube. The candle tube is inserted in the bearing from the inside of the lamp.
